NOW, I KNOW THIS IS A GREAT SACRIFICE, AND WE MUST RESPOND TO THIS CHALLENGE WITH STRENGTH AND WITH RESOLVE. BY FOLLOWING SOCIAL DISTANCING PRACTICES, WE WILL SLOW THE SPREAD OF COVID-19. WE WILL SAVE LIVES. AND WE WILL MAKE IT THROUGH THIS CHALLENGE TOGETHER.

DECLARATION OF LOCAL DISASTER
PROCLAMATION OF THE MAYOR OF THE CITY OF QUANAH
WHEREAS, due to the Corona Virus Pandemic caused by widespread exposure, presents an imminent threat of severe injury, or loss of life and property resulting from catastrophic transmission of disease, and other public calamity resulting there from, which requires emergency action; and,
WHEREAS, Govenor Abbott has issued an executive order and The City of Quanah will follow all mandates included in this order,
WHEREAS, the City of Quanah's Emergency Management Plan should be activated;
NOW, THEREFORE, I, PRESIDING OFFICER OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF QUANAH, HEREBY PROCLAIM AND DECLARE:
SECTION 1: That a state of disaster is declared for the City of Quanah.
SECTION 2: That this declaration of local disaster shall be in effect from this date unless earlier terminated.
SECTION 3: That this declaration activates the recovery and rehabilitation aspects of all applicable local or inter-jurisdictional emergency management plans and authorizes the furnishing of all aid and assistance as deemed necessary or desirable by those administering such plans, and activates the preparedness and response aspects of such plans as provided therein.
SECTION 4: That this declaration shall be filed promptly with the City Secretary, and shall be given prompt and general publicity.
SECTION 5: That this proclamation shall take effect immediately from and after its issuance.
SO DECLARED AND ORDERED THIS THE 20TH DAY OF MARCH, 2020.
CITY OFFICES ARE CLOSED IN ORDER TO LIMIT ANY POTENTIAL EXPOSURE TO THE CORONA VIRUS.

YOU WILL BE ABLE TO DISPOSE OF ANY UNWANTED ITEMS AT NO COST.
NO BATTERIES, REFRIGERATORS, AIR CONDITIONERS, TIRES,
MOTOR OIL, PAINT,
OR ANY OTHER HAZARDOUS ITEMS CAN BE DISPOSED OF AT THE DUMPSITE.
This is a reminder that the City of Quanah does have an Animal Control Ordinance and an Animal Control Officer. The ordinance is enforced and in particular, stray animals will be picked up.
