BOIL ORDER RESCIND NOTICE

On 9/5/2020, the Texas Commission on Environmental Quality (TCEQ) required our public water system City of Quanah, PWS ID 0990002 to issue a Boil Water Notice (BWN) to inform our customers that due to the presence of contaminants or an interruption in service, water from our system must be boiled prior to consumption.

Our system has taken the necessary corrective actions to restore adequate pressure, disinfectant levels, and/or bacteriological quality and has provided TCEQ with testing results that indicate that the water no longer requires boiling as of 9/9/2020.

If you have questions, contact Paula Wilson at 940.663.5336.

If a customer wishes to reach TCEQ, they may call 512.239.4691.

Water Monitoring and Reporting Violation - Tuesday, January 16, 2018

Failure to Submit a Disinfectant Level Quarterly Operating Report (DLQOR)
                                          MONITORING, ROUTING (DBP), MAJOR/CHLORINE

The City Of Quanah Water System (PWS ID 0990002) has violated the monitoring and reporting requirements set by Texas Commission on Environmental Quality (TCEQ) in Title 30, Texas Administrative Code (30 TAC), Section 290.122.  Public water systems are required to properly disinfect water before distribution, maintain acceptable disinfection residuals within the distribution system, monitor the disinfectant residual at various locations throughout the distribution system, and report the results of that monitoring to TCEQ on a quarterly basis.
Results of Regular monitoring are an indicator of whether or not your drinking water is safe from microbial contamination.

This violation occurred in the monitoring period of 7/01/2017 thru 09/30/2017.

We are taking the following action to address this issue:

The City of Quanah is implementing a set list of procedures and reminders of sampling for chlorine residuals daily and reporting Quarterly.

Please share this information with all people who use City water, especially those who may not have received this notice directly (i.e., people in apartments, nursing homes, schools, and businesses).
